In September 2008 the Pontis Foundation starts to implement project Visegrad for European Serbia. The aim of the project is to transfer the experience of the Visegrad countries with the European integration process to Serbia. The project was financially supported by the International Visegrad Fund and the Central European Initiative with funding from the Austrian Development Agency and will be implemented till October 2009.
The Pontis Foundation will co-operate in this project with Serbian partner organization Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence and three other partners from Visegrad countries: DemNet from Hungary, Robert Schuman Foundation from Poland and with Czech Centrum pro studium demokracie a kultury. Together with the partners we will organize eight roundtables for the representatives of local governments and local communities about the various issues connected with the integration to European Union. Among others, round tables will cover issues such as agriculture, knowledge based economy, foreign investments, or education reform. We expect participation of 16 experts from Visegrad countries and more than 800 participants on the roundtables.
Another activity is documentary movie about the roads of Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary to European Union. This documentary movie will be produced together with the well known Serbian TV and radio station B92. The documentary will be presented to Serbian audience in the first half of 2009.
At the end of the project, the Pontis Foundation, together with the partner organizations from Visegrad countries, will organize an annual conference in Bratislava. This conference will ease to implementers and donors of development aid from Visegrad countries to the Balkans to share and discuss common policy and practice as well as hot issues of this region.
We believe that activities planned in this project will bring new partnerships between Serbian and Visegrad countries entities and another successful development projects in the future.
