sharing our corporate volunteering know-how with serbian companies

 

July 3, 2009 – The Pontis Foundation in cooperation with partner organization Smart Kolektiv organized on the June 30 in Belgrade an informal meeting with representatives from Serbian companies about the corporate volunteering concept. The meeting was organized within the project Our Town and present were representatives from companies running businesses in Serbia: Coca – Cola Hellenic, Erste bank and VIP. 

The goal of the meeting was to gather relevant companies from the Serbian Business Leaders Forum, who want to create a working group for corporate volunteering.

The participants at the meeting were showed for the first time a short movie from a pilot project of corporate volunteering entitled “Na¹ Beograd” (Our Belgrade), which took place on June 6, 2009. They exchanged their opinions on how to do “Na¹ Beograd” better next year. 

The representative from Coca-Cola presented to participants their experiences with their corporate volunteering program, which they have been developing for 5 years. Today Coca-Cola Hellenic has 300 people in their volunteering club.

The Slovak model of the ENGAGE group and the 5 years of experiences from Pontis Foundation of preparing corporate volunteering activities in Slovakia were presented by Janko Hrebík from the Pontis Foundation.  

A number of other companies were interested in membership within the working group: Société Générale bank, Holcim, US Steel and KPMG. In the upcoming period Smart Kolektiv together with Pontis Foundation will continue in their preparation of the analysis of corporate volunteering in Serbia and on the preparation of a manual for corporate volunteering in Serbian language.
