October 26, 2009 – The Pontis Foundation participated in preparation of the latest edition of the Monitoring Report on Developments in Belarus for the period March – September 2009.
The report is the third of a series designed to inform policymakers as well as wider public about developments in Belarus during the currently ongoing Dialogue Process with the EU. The report examines developments in the areas of basic human rights which are also of a special concern to the EU, including freedom of the media, freedom of association and freedom of assembly.
The series of monitoring reports follow the agreement reached during the Belarusian International Implementers Meeting (BIIM) held in Warsaw in October 2008 and are a joint effort of more than 50 Belarusian and international civil society organizations. The BIIM has been held on a regular twice a year basis since 2002 and brings together donor and NGO implementer organizations from across Europe and the USA working in the areas of human rights and support for democratic development in Belarus.
