December 17, 2009 – Employees of Accenture managed to collect 550 books for three non-governmental organizations.
„There are many collections of toys, but there are also many people who have books at home. That is why we have decided to organize a collection of books,“ said the initiator of the collection Nina Javilak from Accenture.
Four coordinators volunteered to help with the collection in three localities of Accenture. Other volunteers helped gather boxes and sort out books. Before Christmas, the collected books were divided among three organizations.
First of the organizations is Depaul Slovensko n.o., which provides aid for homeless people in Bratislava and operates two shelter houses for the homeless. As a social worker of Depaul says, their clients read everything. Selecting books and genres for this organization wasn‘t therefore difficult.
Selecting books for Gerium, an accommodation facility for seniors, was not difficult either. Books that went to them were of various genres.
For the orphan house Macejko in Malacky books had to be chosen minding the age and genre limitations. Children in the house are planning to create a library out of children’s books, books for the youth and books about art.
