philanthropy and corporate social responsibility

Our goal is to support corporate philanthropy and encourage corporate social responsibility. We partner with firms to undertake philanthropic activities and provide consultancy for creating philanthropic strategies. We undertake research and publication activities, prepare educational events, and organize the annual Via Bona Slovakia Award for philanthropic activities to socially responsible companies. We support corporate volunteerism by recommending specific projects for which employees can volunteer. We administer foundation funds for firms to undertake their donor activities. We administer the Business Leaders Forum, whose mission is to motivate businesses in Slovakia to social responsibility.

Through Corporate social responsibility, firms commit to:

  • creating and adhering to ethical standards
  • contributing to improving the economic state of the society and environment
  • improving the quality of life of employees and their families
  • supporting the development of the community in which they operate

Corporate philanthropy is part of corporate social responsibility.  Firms may choose from among several kinds of philanthropic activities:

  • making financial donations
  • providing non-financial assistance (gifts, materials, services)
  • loaning of products or property
  • supporting employee volunteerism (time, know-how)
  • offering a product that supports a public interest purpose (for example donor SMS)
  • organizing a fund-raising event
  • creating a matching fund
  • marketing to promote a cause (joining with a  organization to promote a product – in this way, the product gains added value and nonprofit organization gets the profit from the sale)
