Companies to the Community<\/strong> (formerly known as Engage) is an informal association of companies who want to successfully develop volunteering programmes for their employees. The association was founded in 2007 by the Business Leaders Forum, but has gradually opened up to other companies. The essence of the involvement is the will to promote corporate volunteering through activities organized within the association or by the company itself.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section>\n

What is Corporate Volunteering<\/h3>\n

Corporate volunteering is the donation of time, knowledge and\/or skills by employees<\/strong> to support an organization or community in need. Employers usually set aside a certain number of hours for volunteering or use other incentives to motivate employees to engage in meaningful activity – in teams or on their own.<\/p>\n

Corporate volunteering is an essential part of corporate responsibility<\/strong>. A number of terms are used in this context, most commonly CSR<\/strong> (Corporate Social Responsibility) or, more recently, the acronym ESG<\/strong>, which originated in the field of finance and refers to the three basic pillars of corporate responsibility: environmental, social and governance.<\/p>\n

It is also a response to the public’s demand that companies should carry out a variety of responsible activities beyond the law, in addition to generating profit. This is what 89% of people in Slovakia expect from companies.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n

The idea that in volunteering a privileged group helps a disadvantaged group only reinforces stereotypes and is long outdated. Instead, we see corporate responsibility applying a new approach that recognizes corporate volunteering as a two-way path of sharing experiences that benefit the employees, the company, the community and society as a whole.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n
