The 2024 grant calls were announced under the Impact Lab program, which aims to develop the skills of civil society organizations and enhance their innovation potential. The program leverages modern tools from the startup community — such as the incubator, the accelerator, workshops, and mentoring.
In 2024, developing organizations in the Impact Lab Incubator received a unique educational program focused on financial sustainability, impact monitoring, and overall organizational set-up, along with grants of up to €20,000. Established organizations participating in the Impact Lab Accelerator completed a 3-month tailored mentoring program delivered by experts from business and education sectors, participated in workshops, and received grants of up to €60,000. The Fund for Transparent Slovakia supported Impact Lab and its projects in the field of democracy and the rule of law with a contribution of €50,000.
An integral part of the fund is also support for investigative journalism. After three years of the Academy of Investigative Journalism, the fund co-financed a project by the Investigative Center of Ján Kuciak in 2024. The project aimed to build a network of investigative journalists in Slovak regions, focusing on areas with limited media coverage. It involved a 5-month collaboration with three journalists, resulting in the publication of investigative stories.
In the second half of the year, the Fund for a Transparent Slovakia also launched a separate closed grant call aimed at strengthening democracy and transparency at the local level. The evaluation committee selected two actively engaged applicants who committed to leading new organizations focused on protecting and developing democratic principles. These projects, which include the creation of action plans for the upcoming year, continued until spring 2025.
